Content Uploader: use cases and why it's so valuable

Direct Content Uploading is a feature that complements the collection of user, brand and influencer-generated content.

Widget content uploader

Users can easily upload their content on your website, e-commerce, app, and even link it to your email communications, by simply connecting their social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube) and selecting images, or just upload them directly from their device.

One of the biggest benefits of the uploader is that it allows people to quickly upload content that's relevant to your brand, without having to go through, what for some people is, a time-consuming process.

The content uploader is an amazing alternative for users who may not even have an Instagram account, or just for people that don't like posting this content on social media and making this public. Plus, the level of effort to complete is minimal. Most importantly, while it is typically less volume of content than social collection, uploaded content has much higher brand approval rates so it is truly your best, most on-brand content.

Widgets are also great places to inspire content from customers, employees, and partners, as it gives them the opportunity to see how exactly that content will be displayed. With the content uploader you will be able to foster creativity in the communities, engage and reward them for their loyalty.

Remember: Give your users hints on what type of content your brand is looking for. This will increase the quality and quantity of collected content.

OPI, for instance, did a great job with their #OPIOBSESSED gallery. On the top of the page, you immediately have a CTA for social media (with the # and the @). Then, you have the "Fave of the month", which is a hand-picked UGC displayed with increased exposure on the site.

Another big plus? With the Content Uploader you don't need to send rights requests because all of this content will already be rights approved.

More than just an uploader

Users are not the only ones that can take advantage of the content uploader. IKEA UK, for instance, had an amazing idea for London Pride week. They created a special link to the content uploader so co-workers could send their UGC during the London Pride Event. The content was then reviewed by the moderation team and then displayed in IKEA UK's homepage for the weekend, reaching over 440k views on just two days!

One other great successful implementation is in emails. We already know how effective an email marketing campaign can be to deliver a message and reach your audience, then, why don't include an Uploader button to increase the volume of the submitted content?

In-platform content uploader

And last but not least, there's the internal content uploader that allows you to upload content directly from your hard drive to the Earned Content Platform. We've found that brands find this tool very useful to upload employee-generated content or influencer content that hasn't been uploaded on social channels but was sent directly to the brand. If you have Moderation Services, you will have the option to send content to the moderation platform to make sure it adjusts to your brand guidelines.
