Photorank Source
The "Photorank" sorting option is an option which uses a formula developed on our own. We give each photo a score, which takes into account colors, the amount of followers the uploader has on instagram and many other variables to determine how reputable a photo is. The highest scoring photos will be placed first in a widget/gallery, the rest will be placed in descending scoring order, until the lowest scoring photo is placed last. When a new photo has been approved for a widget, it will be placed in the widget according to how high/low it's score is.
Click Through Rate
The "Click Through Rate" sorting option is based on the analytic information we have collected from each photo. We consider "click through" an event that takes place when a user visits the site. When a specific widget renders on a web page, we consider that an "impression". If a user clicks on the widget/photo, we consider that an "interaction". If they like the way a product looks in a photo and click on the "shop this look" link, we consider that a "click through". Every time a user interacts with the widget, whether it is through an "interaction" or a "click through", we record that data. Therefore, photos that have been clicked on in a widget and clicked through to a PDP will have a higher "Click Through Rate". Photos that have a higher "Click Through Rate" will be displayed first in a widget, and the rest will be displayed in descending order based on their Click Through Rate. A newly approved photo will be placed in the widget according to how high/low its Click Through Rate is.
Chronological
The "Chronological" sorting option will sort by the most recently approved photos. The photos approved most recently will appear first in the widget/gallery. It could take from 20 minutes to an hour from when a photo is approved for it to appear in the widget.
Random
The "Random" sorting option will randomly set the order of photos in the widget. We calculate and assign a random value to each photo. This sorting option pulls the photos with the highest random value. The value updates once every 30 minutes, giving every photo a new random value. Because of this (depending on how many photos are approved in a specific widget) you should not see photos in the same order two days in a row.
