About the Widgets Display Logic and Availability

Updated over 4 years ago

The Earned Content Platform utilizes availability logic when determining whether or not a photo will appear in a widget, and whether or not the product will display in the lightbox. We have three main reasons for doing so and these factors shaped how our logic was implemented.

  1. Ensuring that Social Native prioritizes photos tagged to available products to maximize conversion.

  2. Blocking clickthroughs to out of stock or 404 pages.

  3. Enabling the display of photos that may not have a clickthrough to a product page.

When will my photos display?

After publishing content through the Moderation Queue, our widgets can take up to 1 hour to refresh with the new content.

The Stream status along with the Widget source determine how and when photos will display. Below is the specific logic for what will display based on the source of the widget and the status of the streams tagged to the media.

Stream Status

Social Native requires a photo be tagged to a stream before it can be published. There are three stream statuses that we need to be conscious of in order to determine whether a photo will display, and if so, whether the product will display alongside it in the lightbox. The three statues are "OK", "TAG", and "INACTIVE". Generally, an OK stream is a product coming from the product feed, a TAG stream is a manual stream created in the platform, and an INACTIVE stream is an old or unavailable product. See below for a more in-depth explanation of each of these three statuses.

Status - "OK"

Streams with status "OK" are active products within our platform with clickthroughs to product pages. These streams have the "Hide Stream from Widget Lightbox" unchecked. Generally streams with this status have come through in the product feed and within that feed are marked as available.

Status - "TAG"

Streams with the status "TAG" are streams that have the "Hide Stream from Widget Lightbox" checked. This means that there will be no clickthrough to a product page from a lightbox. By default, manually created streams and parent products created through a parent-child hierarchy within the product feed have the status "TAG".

Status - "INACTIVE"

Streams with the status "INACTIVE" are products that are specifically marked as such in the product feed because they either no longer exist, or are out of stock. Since these streams may in the future come back in stock, they are kept around in the platform and they can still be tagged.
