Within the Gallery Manager you can create multi-language versions of all shoppable galleries and enter translations for headers, call-to-actions, texts, buttons, and other elements in the gallery/carousel and lightbox.
All settings are available from the Gallery Manager, and no coding experience is required to customize texts and translations.
To manage translations, follow these steps:
Log in to your Social Native account.
Go to the "Activate" menu and select "Gallery Manager."
Find the Shoppable Gallery for which you want to set up multi-language support and click on it.
To enable multi-language support, scroll down to the Advanced Settings section and toggle the "Turn on multi-language support" option to the "On" position. Then click on "Multi-language settings".
You will see the Multi-language settings page. By default, all galleries will be in English (language code: en_US).
To add a new language to your Shoppable Gallery, simply click on the "Add" button located next to the English tab. You will then be prompted to fill out all available fields for the new language.
If you need to make changes to an existing language, simply select the corresponding language tab and edit the fields as needed.
If you want to delete an existing language, select the language tab and scroll down to the bottom of the page. Click the 'Delete language' button to proceed.
Filling out the multi-language support fields
Below you'll find some important considerations to keep in mind when filling out the fields on the Multi-language settings page, including:
Tooltips to guide your inputs
Next you each field in the multi-language settings page you will see a 'question mark' icon. If you hover over it, you'll see a small box of text, providing brief information or context about the field.
Choosing the Language code
The Language code is a unique identifier and a shorthand for language names, allowing clear identification of a language.
We recommend using letters that make it easy to identify the language and region (e.g., en_US, en_UK, es_ES, es_MX). Please note that once submitted, the language code cannot be changed.
The Language Code appears on the code snipped that is used to embed shoppable galleries on websites, indicating the language in which the gallery should be displayed. If a gallery supports multiple languages, that section of the code snipped needs to be changed to match the language code used in the Multi-language settings.
Customizing your header, subheader and CTAs
The multi-language support page allows you to customize not only the language settings but also the header text, subheader text, and call-to-action buttons displayed on your galleries and carousels.
This gives you more control over the appearance and messaging of your shoppable content in different languages.
Adding "aria-labels"
The "aria-label" is an attribute used to describe the function or purpose of an element for people who may not be able to see it, such as those who use screen readers to access the content.
For example, for the 'View more' button on shoppable galleries, you can add an "aria-label" attribute to it that describes what the button does, like "Go to view user generated gallery". When someone using a screen reader encounters the button, the screen reader will read the "aria-label" text aloud to give them an understanding of the button's purpose.
Using the "aria-label" is important for creating accessible web content, as it ensures that all users, including those with disabilities, can understand and interact with the elements on your webpage.
