The Rights Messages tool allows you to effectively manage the messages used when approving photos within the Content section. You can find the Rights Messages tool on the left side Menu under UGC > Curate tab.

Why use Rights Request groups

To streamline your rights requests process, you can create a Rights Request group. Each group contains multiple, distinct rights messages, allowing us to cycle through them when requesting in bulk, or easily select the appropriate one you'd like to send.

Rights Request groups allows you to send multiple rights request simultaneously on Instagram. By creating a group with a minimum of 10 different messages, the Earned Content Platform alternates through the group's messages when posting rights requests.

By sending different messages, you’ll increase the requests frequency without triggering spam alerts from Instagram.

Creating your Terms of Service (ToS)

Before you start requesting rights from content creators, you need to connect your social media accounts to collect content and create your Terms of Service (ToS).

  • Craft a user-generated content (UGC)-specific ToS approved by your legal team.

  • Avoid using bit.ly link shorteners in the URL for your ToS in rights messages. Including these may prevent saving templates or sending rights messages, and could result in your messages being flagged as spam by Instagram.

  • Establish a branded hashtag for users to reply with, to acknowledge that they give you permission and agree to your TOS.

  • Use a brand-specific hashtag for your rights requests; for instance, avoid generic choices like '#yes' and opt for a distinctive one such as '#YesToMyBrandName.'

  • Social Native's Earned Content Platform can process hashtags that use special characters.

📣 IMPORTANT NOTE

For Instagram to allow us to recognize the user's consent, they must reply with both the consent hashtag you specified and your brand handle. If the user clicks reply to the request, the @mention will be automatically populated in the response.

Creating your Rights Messages

Navigate to Rights Messages under 'Curate' Tab. Here, you'll find a list of your existing Rights Request Groups, as well as the messages on each. To generate a new one, hit the 'Create New' button in the top right corner.

To optimize the effectiveness of Rights Request groups, you need to create:

  • At least 10-20 messages for Instagram.

  • At least 1 message for Twitter.

Remember, the more, the better!

PRO TIP

We highly recommend making the messages as distinct as possible. Diversifying your messages helps prevent them from being mistakenly flagged as spam by the algorithm. Check out some examples of Rights Messages in this article.

To create a rights request group, follow these steps:

  1. Enter a Rights Group Name for internal reference.

  2. Specify a hashtag for users to reply with, granting permission to use their content. This hashtag will be used in all messages within the same group.

  3. Provide the URL for the terms of service (ToS), to be used in all messages within the group.

  4. Choose the social network for each message (Instagram or Twitter).

  5. Assign an internal name to the message for reference.

  6. Enter the Rights Message.

  7. Click Next to save the message, and repeat the process for subsequent messages.

All messages within a group will be generated in a single entry form, so you don’t need to switch between multiple screens.

Groups must contain at least one message and will be marked as 'Completed' when they meet the required message count for the respective platform (10 for Instagram and 1 for Twitter). Afterward, you can click the 'Back' button to confirm that the group has been successfully saved in the Rights Messages tab.

If you wish to remove a message, navigate back to the Rights Messages page, click within the Rights Group, and delete the desired message. Should you want to delete an entire Rights Group, you must first delete each individual message within that group and then proceed to delete the Group.
