Create and manage collections
Updated over a year ago

Collections allow you to gather content from Mentions, Tags and Hashtags while also offering the flexibility to apply specific rules to ensure you collect only relevant content for your brand. To begin collecting content or manage your existing collections, navigate to the left menu: Source > UGC > Collect > Collections.

From the UGC section you can collect content from the following sources:

  • Instagram User mention

  • Instagram Tags

  • Instagram Hashtags

  • Twitter Hashtags

  • Twitter Profiles

You can also upload content from your Hard drive using the Content Uploader located on the Collect tab.

Set up a new collector

First, ensure that your social accounts are connected. If not, use the 'Connect Social Accounts' button to establish the connection.

To set up a new collection, click 'Create New Collection', and you'll be redirected to a new page. Start by selecting your platform to collect media from (Instagram or Twitter) and media type (image or video). Next, choose your collection method:

Once your primary collector is set up, you can add filters to include or exclude different variables using hashtags.

As an optional step, you can assign your collection to a Stream so that content can be easily reviewed and activated. Simply type the Stream name into the box and select it. If the Stream name doesn't return an exact match, a 'Create' button will appear next to it, allowing you to create a new Stream linked to the current Collection.

πŸ“£ IMPORTANT NOTE

If you cancel the Collection creation, the Stream created during the process will not be deleted. You'll need to manually go to the Streams section and delete the newly created Stream.

Lastly, give the collection an internal name for recognition and configure the collection period. The default option is 'Unlimited time'. When unchecked, you can choose a specific start and end date.

After your collector is set up, click 'Create' in the bottom right corner of the page, and it will immediately start collecting the content that matches your criteria. A list of your collections will appear on the Collection Manager page, with the collection's details. You can always edit a saved collector later.

Depending on whether you have Moderation Services or not, this content will either go into your New Content section or to Moderation Services to be reviewed. If Moderation services are enabled an extra option will be displayed next to the media type toward the top of the screen. If a particular collector does not need to be moderated by the Moderation team, then you should not enable the "Activate Moderation" toggle and the content will be routed to the Content section of the platform.

Please note that if content is collected solely using hashtags, we are unable to obtain the Instagram username. This limitation means the username will appear as "@private_instagram_user." Content collected from users who go private or delete their account will be flagged by our system and will no longer surface in the platform. The media in a live widget will also be removed.

Different Types of Collections

Instagram Profiles

By enabling the Connected Instagram Profiles setting, you can automatically pull content, including Instagram Feed photos, Feed videos, and Stories, from each of your linked Instagram accounts directly into the UGC section. To enable this feature, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to the Collect navigation tab and select Collections.

  2. Under Connected Instagram Profiles, toggle the switch to On (by default, this setting is set to β€˜Off’).

Once enabled, the platform will start automatically collecting your Instagram content from the point of activation, and all collected content will be marked with a β€œRights approved” status. If you wish to add previously uploaded Instagram content to the platform, you can do so using our Content Uploader.

Removing Instagram profiles

If you’d like to stop collecting from specific Instagram accounts, you can use our Blocked List featuring to prevent this content from moving to the UGC section. For more information on how to do this, see Block Users and Hashtags.

Mentions & Tags

Mentions and tags are collected using the same collector and can only be gathered if the Instagram handles have been connected via Facebook Business Manager.

Difference Between Tags and Mentions:

  • Tags: Publishers can add tags to images and videos, indicating who (a person) or what (a product) is featured in the content.

  • Mentions: A mention is a direct callout to a brand, which can appear in either the post description or the comment section. Users cannot search for @mentions, but the brand will receive notifications whenever a new one is posted.

Hashtags

Content can be collected from Instagram by including a single hashtag. This means you'll gather all content that includes the specified hashtag, including both images and videos.

Please keep in mind that the Collection Method or Collect media from sections cannot be edited for an already-created collector. If you need to modify either the Collection Method field (e.g., changing from Instagram to Twitter) or the Collect media from field (e.g., switching from @Mention and Tag to #Hashtag), you should create a new collector.

πŸ“£ IMPORTANT NOTE

To request rights for media collected from tags and hashtags, you must use the Rights Requester Chrome Extension. Learn more about how to obtain and use it in this article.

Carousel collection

We can collect all content from carousel posts that exclusively feature mentions. For detailed information, please refer to the Rights Management Additional Information Troubleshooting article.

Twitter Profiles

You have the option to follow specific public Twitter users to automatically gather the new content they post. Please note that you cannot collect from multiple users within the same collector.
